Sennheiser Full Diversity SMA Upgrade
Replace your Sennheiser original antenna and add a an additional diversity antenna

Service Description
$220 per receiver (SMA antennas included) This is quite a strange offering as I'm going to outright state that I don't recommend this to the majority of people. I'd like to say that its much better and is worth the extra time and money over a standard SMA mod but it really isn't for the majority of people. For those unaware "Diversity" and "True diversity" can mean different things as it's generally a marketing term, Antenna diversity is usually what Sony receivers utilise where two antennas are used to receive the same signal, if one signal is weak the second antenna usually works to fill in the deficiencies and avoid a dropout. On much more expensive Lectrosonics/Wisycom/Zaxcom equipment two different receiver circuits are used with two antennas, this is generally called "True diversity" and can work well on dual or quad channel slot in receivers. For the Sennheiser Evolution G2/G3/G4 range the shielding on the 3.5mm > XLR cable is used as a grounding point and as a "Diversity" antenna, in this modification I disconnect this ground point and reroute the ground to an additional SMA mount, I also flip the 3.5mm grounding ring and reroute it with a copper wire to a point on the chassis, the new SMA mount needs to be drilled into the top plate of the device, this hole makes the mod somewhat irreversible in the sense that the hole would need to be filled and painted with something like JB Weld. This mod is a good example of diminishing returns as the additional antenna really doesn't give much of a performance increase, the standard SMA mod which already gives a considerable performance advantage, I think the 35mw or so power output of a standard transmitter is more the limiting factor here. The real advantages of this specific mod is really in the fact that you can utilise the additional SMA antenna mounts to fully connect this receiver into a diversity antenna array with dedicated shark fin antennas. If that doesn't sound like something you'll be doing anytime soon I'd very much recommend the cheaper SMA mod instead! https://rrogers888.wixsite.com/robert-rogers-sound/service-page/sennheiser-evolution-g2-g3-g4-sma-mod?referral=service_list_widget
