$100 per receiver (SMA antenna included) Sennheiser XSW wireless bodypack receivers are a new lower cost option for wireless playback in the field that can often come at a cheaper cost than the very popular Sennheiser G4 IEMs. To be perfectly honest once SMA converted I couldn't discern any major performance improvements on the Sennheiser XSW IEM. In my limited experience with the Sennheiser XSW IEM receivers the range and signal stability performance is quite a few steps below that of a Sennheiser G4 system. Sennheiser XSW's are not antenna diversity like the Sennheiser G4 system is. (Though the G4's antenna diversity includes the 3.5mm headphone cable shielding as the diversity antenna on the receiver units) This SMA conversion would be ideal for someone who already owns a Sennheiser XSW receiver with a broken stock antenna, someone looking to adapt their Sennheiser XSW IEM receiver to a larger SMA based antenna system, or someone who wants the convenience of a removeable and user replaceable SMA antenna that can be replaced on a film set or at a concert in seconds with minimal downtime. I wouldn't recommend the Sennheiser XSW wireless system to newcomers. While the Sennheiser XSW receivers do work quite well in less demanding UHF environments, used Sennheiser G3's and 3rd Gen Sony UWP's are available with much better range, better signal stability, antenna diversity and overall perform much better once SMA upgraded at a similar price point. Mod wiring is internally soldered with a custom moulded SMA mount that solders straight into the original factory antenna mount. No original parts are cut or modified and is 100% reversible if desired. All original antennas and parts are returned with each order.
