Service Description

Service Description AU$165 per dual receiver (SMA antennas included.) The 4th generation of Sony UWP wireless have been completely redesigned compared to the previous two generations, they are unfortunately now quite time consuming to modify. (This time Sony decided instead of removing four screws to access the internals you now need 15 screws with different thread lengths and pitch, tri security screws and a sticker to make it extra fun!) There seems to be less of a performance increase compared to previous generations but it is improved after the SMA mod, I think this is partially due to the fact they're very new so I haven't seen any that are particularly worn out as of yet. I will note that these dual-channel receivers have some design limitations and aren't very impressive compared to their single channel counterparts in terms of performance. When running in single channel mode they operate with diversity antennas, (i.e. two antennas for receiving the signal) when operating in dual channel receiver mode they lose this function as each transmitter is received by one specific antenna. They work very well when paired with only one transmitter but when paired with two the range and stability drastically decreases and signal loss and dropouts are common at medium to long ranges. For best performance consider purchasing an additional URX-P40 or URX-P03 in the same frequency band for use in situations when two channels are required at long ranges. This mod should provide similar benefits to other devices, that being longer ranges and stronger signal stability, plus with the convenience of a removable and user replaceable flexible SMA antenna with the ability to connect the device to larger RF antenna systems. I use a new solder-free technique with these receivers, internally the antennas connect through the original mini-RF antenna port with a compatible mini-RF plug so the result is very neat. No original parts are cut or modified and is 100% reversible if desired. All original antennas and parts are returned with each order. I have been regularly using my personal SMA modified Sennheiser G3’s on film and TV sets since 2017 and have implemented new techniques over the years. More independent information can be read about the similar Sennheiser G3 SMA mod can be read here https://wavreport.com/2016/11/19/g3-sma-mod-range-testing (Sony URX-P03D Dual Receiver not available for SMA mod)
